Observing the situation for a moment, Lito shook his head a bit. “I’ll escort him out this time, but next time, watered down drinks. If he’s unhappy with a small, intangible aspect of the service, he might just stop coming all on his own. Which is better for everyone involved. The last thing we need is for him to be in a rage about us. We want to be left alone by the authorities, if we can help it.”
Taking a moment to brace himself for some unpleasantness, Lito plastered a functioning ‘work smile’ on his face and moved into the gentleman’s line of sight before approaching, leaning down slightly so they wouldn’t be overheard, gently asking him to please leave, prepared for his refusal.
Nevada nodded, listening to Lito before moving behind the bar to inform the workers behind it about what Lito had just said about the patron in question. She tried to eavesdrop inconspicuously to his conversation with the drunk gentleman but was afraid she was being too obvious.
She didn’t have to wait long, though, because the man decided now was a good time to make a scene, slurring drunken refusals, shaking his head. She sent Lito a sympathetic look before moving from behind the bar to try to assist him. “We might have to drag him out.” She said, attempting to kick the bar stool out from under him. It took a few kicks but the stool made its way out from under him and she watched with a satisfied grin as the man landed in a heap. “He won’t remember this tomorrow, will he?” She asked
"Quick. You can hide here." Luna muttered and watched the man walk over to the bar. Thankfully, it did not look like he noticed anyone else there for he seemed distracted by something else.
Nevada was torn between wanting the money and wanting to spend time with her friend. She bit her lip and decided to slide further into her seat, till she was almost off it. She was certain if anyone had been looking at her she would have looked comical but she didn’t really care, “Maybe we can sneak out of here without him noticing?” She whispered, a mischievous look in her eye.
"Can’t get more refined than that." Luna winked and knocked back the drink as well. Pouring another, she scanned the room and caught sight of a customer heading their way. She rolled her eyes and muttered under her breath. "Oh great."
Nevada hadn’t quite seen what Luna saw but frowned as she saw her friend’s demeanor change. “What?” She asked, scanning the room until she understood. “Maybe he won’t see me.” She said, scooting down in her chair even further.
Of course. Lito knew the gentleman in question- although to call the man a gentleman was a bit of a joke. Unfortunately, he was also wealthy, and somewhat well-connected, which meant that throwing the guy out physically wasn’t really an option. On the other hand, neither was letting him have one of the girls- he wasn’t about to let one of his girls take the blunt end of this bastard’s bad mood.
Heaving himself out of his chair with a small sigh, Lito flashed Nevada a crooked smile. “I think a personal touch is needed in his case. We should probably start thinking about watering this jackass’s drinks, while we’re at it…”
Nevada followed at Lito’s heels, thankful that he sprung to action because -everyone- seemed to be sick and tired of this guy. “You don’t think he’ll notice if his drinks are getting watered down?” She asked, eyeing the man as he reached out to grab another one of the girls. “You know, we could just slip some laudanum into a drink, probably put him to sleep.” Nevada suggested softly
The paperwork was…done. Actually done, before the even rush, and he might actually have time for a drink, provided no disaster crossed his desk in the next ten minutes.
Nevada moved into Lito’s office, a sheepish smile across her face. She felt bad for the guy sometimes, even she noticed that he never seemed to rest. If it wasn’t one thing it was another, which was why she felt awful about what she had to do, “Lito, that guy you told not to come back last week is back.” She said, scrunching up her nose in distaste, “He’s drunk and refusing to leave. Demanding one of us girls service him or get him another drink.” She said, fearing his reaction, “I-I tried to get him out but….” She let her voice drop because there was no way Nevada would ever be able to physically get the guy out.
"Why thank you, my darling." Luna snickered as she took the glass and poured the whiskey. She raised her glass and smirked as she stated in her most proper tone. "Cheers for drinking as refined ladies and we musn’t give a fuck about getting shitfaced."
Nevada chuckled and clinked her glass with her friend, “We are -very- refined young women.” She said with a grin before knocking back the drink. “Well as refined as a barmaid and a whore can be, right?”
Because I needed another reason to love Gemma Arterton
Goliath grinned as he handed her the bottle. ”Ireland”, he replied. ”Mullingar, in County Westmeath”, he added.
Nevada smiled and nodded slowly, “That explains the accent.” She said, reaching for the bottle and taking a swig, “This whole time I thought you just picked it up somewhere around the city, used it to woo women.” She said, with a grin.
